Our Philosophy
We are a fledgling gathering of people in the Niagara Falls community who believe that following Jesus is so much more than bricks and mortar, singing, liturgy and a Sunday event with things for the kids.
We understand that following Jesus means that we reflect him — his love and grace, compassion for those suffering and struggling and for those who think they have it all together. We believe we are called to be part of restoring communities and loving and accepting ALL people whom we encounter along the journey of life.
Our gatherings always include a meal, a time of learning and serving.
Our Mission:
We seek to connect people with Jesus and each other toward the transformation of hearts, lives and communities [for God’s kingdom and glory].
Therefore we must consider this great vision directed by the Great Commission Jesus set forth in Matthew 28:18-20 that, in our everyday going about life, engaging in our culture and society we make disciples bringing them into the family of God.
Our Vision:
The Bridge is a [We are a] community of Jesus-followers journeying together while embracing the Great Commission and committed to its mission of grace. It is a ragtag group of incarnational communities living life together and engaging the community/parish God has placed them/us in through:
-
A Loving and Inclusive Community: for all who God brings including the leery and lost in every and all places.
-
Communion with God: connecting people to Jesus through common practices of worship, prayer, learning, stewardship and mission.
-
Table Fellowship: gathering to share meals and life and the sacrament of the Eucharist.
-
Empowerment: Through our ongoing journey as Christ’s disciples and communal life on life we acknowledge and encourage the Holy Spirit’s gifts and passions in one another releasing people to use them in creative and innovative ways in their commitment to God’s mission through The Bridge and their everyday lives.
-
Discipleship/Transformation: We live and work alongside people to help them to know and love Jesus.
-
Mission: Being tangibly present within our parish community acting against injustice, stepping out to serve, embrace, bless and encourage healthier communities.
-
Apprenticeship: Stewarding the individual development of every person to be more like Jesus.
